–As Governors Supporters Beg For More Endorsement
There are reports that civil servants in Imo State are under intense pressure to endorse Governor Uzodinma’s re-election, just like the pensioners did few weeks ago.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our reporter that the Head of Service,Barr. Raymond Obioma Ucheoma who invited Heads of parastatals and some Labour leaders to a meeting in his office early this week told them of the need to endorse the Governor’s re-election in addition to presenting an award to him the same way the pensioners in the state had done.
He urged them to go and raise money with which to print posters, banners and a plaque with which to endorse and present an award to him on that day”.
“When the civil servants asked him if the Governor is aware of their plight, the Head of Service reportedly told them that he has discussed with the Governor and he assured him that all their needs including the payment of minimum wage will be met the moment he is re-elected”.
However, some of the civil servants who also spoke to our reporter said, they know that the Governor will not do anything for them if he is re-elected stressing that he has not fulfilled any of the promises he made to them since he assumed office.
They also noted that “over 30% of civil servants in the state who are tagged ghost workers have not been paid salary for several months. And when they complain, they are harassed and intimidated. That is why every person is keeping quiet in the midst of suffering and hardship”.
He further stated that they are supposed to organize the event this weekend but heard that it will not be possible because the Governor has left the state again for Abuja.
