The Imo State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Mararaba, Nasarawa State has sacked the former Speaker of the state legislative, Hon Kennedy Ibeh, who was re-elected for a second tenure on the platform of the All Progressive Congress APC and declared Nkechi Anyanwu Mbachu of the Labour party winner of the March, 18, 2023 election.
The tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to, as a matter of urgency retrieve the Certificate of Return it issued to Hon Ibeh and issue same to Mrs Nkechi Anyanwu Mbachu who it said was lawfully elected.
Labour party candidate,Mbachu had approached the court over the massive rigging at Obowo, seeking the court to nullify the election and declare her winner.
Part of her demands was for court to declare some of her stronghold that were declared cancelled as illegal as INEC has no such power to nullify such areas..
