An Owerri based business mogul, philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Ucheson Tyres, Chief Uche Okafor (Okpata Ozuo Oha na Anambra) was on Saturday, August, 26, 2023 conferred with an award of excellence by Udodiri Ndom Umuihugba Umuodu autonomous community, Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State.
Chief Okafor, who is the Chairman of Tyre Dealers Union in Imo State, according to the women, “was conferred with the prestigious award of “Ome na Ife”, in recognition of his philanthropic disposition, passionate commitment and outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the community and Owerri Municipal Council at large”.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Okafor, who has travelled extensively in the course of his business transactions thanked the women for considering him worthy of such award and for recognizing his commitment towards ensuring a better society for all. He assured them of his continued support and encouragement at all times stressing that he strongly believes that the blessings of God should be used to bless others and make the world a better place for all.
Addressing journalists shortly after the event, Chief Okafor, an illustrious son of his community who is said to have offered scholarship to many deserving students, organized skill acquisition programmes and empowered many youths by giving them financial support to start their own businesses said, “I find pleasure in making others happy. I also believe in the principle of treating others the way you would want others to treat you because no one knows tomorrow”.
Responding to a question, his wife Lolo Chidinma Okafor expressed happiness that her husband was considered worthy of receiving such award in a place he does business and said to God be the glory. She promised to always support and encourage him in his determination to make the society better to the glory of God and for the good of humanity”.
Most residents and indigenes of the area who spoke to this Reporter, described Chief Okafor as a very humble, peaceful and responsible man who is always willing to render assistance to any person in need without hesitation.
They prayed that God continued to bless him and his family more abundantly.
