The case instituted by the candidate of Labour Party for Orlu State Constituency, in the March, 18, 2023 House of Assembly election, Comrade Precious Nwadike, has been adjourned to Thursday August, 24 for the adoption of final written address.
Comrade Nwadike, in the suit marked EPT/IM/SHA/30/2023, is challenging the outcome of the March, 18, 2023 election for Orlu State constituency.
He, in his final written address noted that he filed his petition on April, 7, 2023, exactly 20 days after the election.
He is also praying the tribunal to grant him the reliefs he is seeking as contained in his petition.
Nwadike’s Counsel Barr G.C. Opara who disclosed this in a chat with this Reporter, said “we are convinced that we have been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that our client, Comrade Precious Nwadike won the election.
“Aside that, the third respondent, Ihezuo was not qualified to contest election because of his alleged criminal record, the evidence of which is before the Court”.
“So far so good. We will be in court on Thursday for adoption of final written address, after which it is expected that the Court will fix a date for judgment”.
When contacted, Comrade Nwadike said, he is committed to ensuring justice, not just for himself as the candidate of the party but for his numerous supporters who reposed so much confidence in him. “I also assured them that I will do all I can to reclaim my stolen mandate. I am confident that the judiciary as the last hope of the common man will dispense justice equitably. Orlu people will also be liberated from the shackles of poor, inept and purposeless representation under my watch as their lawmaker”.
