Saturday 12th August, 2023, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland and Iceland, Her Excellency, Dr. Ijeoma Chinonyerem Arimanwa Obiezu was among the distinguished personalities who bagged meritorious award of Excellence from a global Organization, Rotary Club International.
The recipient, Obiezu was represented at the occasion by Barr. Vivian Otti, Mr. Alex Ibeh, Dr. Chijioke Ibeabuchi and Mrs Chizoba Iwuji.
The award presented to her and other men and women from all works of life formed part of the programs in the Installation Ceremony of the 2nd President of Rotarian Amam Ben Ohuabunwa of Rotary Club of Owerri Uptown, Imo State, district 9142.
The event which attracted men and women of different backgrounds was awash with different goodwill messages.
Aside the recognition of the reputable individuals, the occasion featured the Induction of New members, Inauguration of Board of Directors and Launching of Service Projects.
Meanwhile, the District 9142 Governor Akan Emah disclosed that the district has 7 states which made up of the South eastern States, including Akwa Ibom and Uyo States, adding that it is categorized into districts and Club.
The Media Practitioner hinted that Rotary is an International Club founded over 115 years ago exactly on 23rd of February, 1905.
He further disclosed that Rotary Club International was the first Organisation that commenced a polio-free world through mass immunization of children.
Earlier in his Presidential speech, Amam Ben Ohuabunwa expressed gratitude to the governing body of Rotary Club of Owerri Uptown for having successfully piloted the affairs of the club.
He however assured the club members of leaving a legacy that will stand the text of time.
While speaking with the press, the new President promised to embark on projects that are in line with the mission and vision statement of the club.
In recognition of her exceptional services towards the establishment and growth of the society, hence the honour of excellence was bestowed on her.
While receiving the award for Dr. Obiezu, Barr. Vivian Otti who is also a Rotarian appreciated the award, describing it as worthwhile.
She hinted that her Foundation “Tresha Aid Foundation” located along Whetheral Road would continue to partner with Rotary Club in impacting positively to the wellbeing of the society.
The official envoy to Ireland and Iceland lauded the organisation especially in the area of project Execution even as she described it as a club that is making difference and changing the life of the people in the Community through the humanitarian services.
She further encouraged the new President of Rotary Club Owerri Uptown not to relent but continue to steer the course of the club.
