–Will Uzodinma Still Recover Looted Fund,Property ?
The recent reconciliatory meeting between the former Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha and the current occupant of the office, Hope Uzodinma, has elicited mixed reactions from a cross section of Imo people who expressed concern about its implication to the overall interest of the state and her people.
The meeting which was brokered by the Vice President Kashim Shettima, according to political pundits will amount to abandoning all the criminal charges against Okorocha and his supporters who allegedly looted the state dry.
This, they further said, confirms reports in several quarters that Governor Uzodinma has at no time been committed to implementing reports of any of the panels of inquiry instituted by him or his predecessor including the one on forceful acquisition of properties, the recovery of Imo Broadcasting Corporation IBC quarters at Orji, the land marked for new Government House by former Governor Ikedi Ohakim at New Owerri, Lamonde Guest House which encroached into Government House premises, the report on the embezzlement of local government funds, and that of the monumental contract scandals that involved the former Principal Secretary to the Governor, Dr Pascal Obi as arrow head, among others.
An Abuja source who pleaded anonymity said, part of the condition for reconciliation between Uzodinma and Okorocha, is for the former to jettison all the criminal charges against the latter and his supporters, no matter how grievous.
He also noted that the reconciliatory meeting was held two days after the Chief Vitalis Ajumbe panel submitted its report on the forceful acquisition of the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE) land at Shell Camp quarters, Owerri. According to him, “this is a very questionable co-incidence”.
The source emphatically noted that, “any person who thinks that Uzodinma is committed to implementing any of the panels’ reports is dreaming. He uses the reports to either victimize and arm-twist his political opponents or win them to his side, despite the obvious flaws and deficiencies of his failed administration”.
