After moves by state actors from Imo state to frustrate and derail the appointment of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, member representing the good people of Ideato Federal Constituency, as a Committee Head, were rebuffed by leaders of the Green Chambers and critical stakeholders of the country, the vibrant lawmaker has been appointed the Committee Chairman for Petroleum Resources (Downstream).
Ikenga Ugochinyere, a first timer to the House of Representatives, in the last one month has sponsored 10 Bills on the floor of the parliament with his latest Bill being the Bill for the establishment of South-East Development Commission, which has passed its first reading.
Before his new appointment, Ugochinyere had served as spokesperson for the Green Chambers, being the Deputy Chairman of the House Ad Hoc Committee on Communication.
Ugochinyere is perceived widely as a versatile, resourceful and creative politician, an asset to the lower chambers of the National Assembly in the bid to effect cross-party alliance and solidarity for mutual benefit and collective good of Nigerians.
A credible source from the parliament said: “The House finds a very reliable colleague and partner in Ikenga Ugochinyere, in the effort to provide the necessary legislative support and leadership for a new Nigeria.
“Attempts by the Imo State governor to dim the rising star is seen as being in bad faith, and will be rebuffed.”
