…Say ;Workers Mark Attendance Registers Every Monday
A cross section of Imo State workers have flayed a Media report published on social media and one of the State based tabloids of Wednesday 19th July,2023 edition alleging that the State Head of Service Barr. Raymond Obioma Ucheoma, Permanent Secretaries, Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi and other State Commissioners have been boycotting work on Mondays so as to observe sit-at home order of the Pro-Biafra agitators known as the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Some of the workers which include the 3R shuttle bus drivers spotted by this reporter at the State Secretariat complex, new Owerri who did not want their names in print vindicated the Head of Service and Commissioners, revealing how the Head of Service uses green pen to mark the workers attendance register every Monday.
They described the publication as the handiwork of mischief makers and urged members of the public to disregard the publication.
According to them,” the Head of Service means well for the workers and Imo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
“We have confidence in the State Head of Service. We are also happy with him over his proactiveness in beautifying the entire Secretariat complex and his competency in handling workers welfare. It is regrettable to hear someone saying that the State Secretariat complex is under lock and key or ghost of itself every Monday whereas we, the shuttle bus drivers always ply every route to convey workers thro and fro on Mondays.Anybody saying that the Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries and Commissioners always abscond their duty post every Monday over fear of IPOB sit-at-home order is the enemy of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Administration”.
Speaking to Newsmen, the Head of Service Barr Raymond Ucheoma reiterated his commitment in ensuring better welfare of Imo State Workers as well as defending policies and programmes of the Government.
In his words” we are not relenting to achieve the success of the government as our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has done well to uplift the standard of Imo State Workers including promotion of the workers, payment of gratuity to retired workers,#40,000 new minimum wage, palliatives to cushion workers plights in the current fuel subsidy removal as well as other incentives including Government’s plan to purchase more shuttle buses for the workers.
“We can not allowe miscreants and mischief makers to paint the State black. We will continue to do the needful by ensuring that the workers are protected through working in synergy with the security operatives to ensure that their men are deployed, sufficiently to the Secretariat complex”.
