As JOPET and FRIENDS Speaks On Preparedness For Event
All is now set for the 2023 Igbo Day which is scheduled to hold in Ottawa, Canada, from 5pm, to 12midnight on Saturday, July 29, 2023.
The event, which is being packaged by Igbos resident in Canada, especially those in Ottawa-Gatinueau is expected to be graced by creme la creme of the Igbo community in Canada and beyond.
A release issued to that effect, indicates that the event which will hold at Ron Kolbus Lake side Center, 102 Greenview Ave, Ottawa, Ontario, K2B 8JB, will feature Igbo cuisines, traditional dances, fund raising and other side attractions. The release also stated that the event is open for sponsorship and advertisement.

In a separate development,an offshoot of the Igbo community in Canada under the auspices of JOPET and friends in Ottawa have expressed their preparedness for the forthcoming event.
Speaking with this Reporter in Canada over the week,an elder statesman who is one of the founding members of the group, Chief Chuks Jacob who traced the history of JOPET and FREINDS which is also known as Onyeaghala nwanne ya grouo narrated that the group started sometime during the Covid-19 pandemic as an association formed to promote the collective interests of Igbos resident in Ottawa. But gradually and by virtue of the love and patriotism of it’s members and their willingness to foster unity, the group has metamorphosed into a vibrant and strong purpose driven pro-Igbo group.
He further spoke on their commitment to continuously showcase the rich cultural and traditional heritage of Igbos and Nigeria at large,adding that the group will, in no distant time become a reference point by virtue of its people-oriented programs and ideology.
