Mbaitoli Local Government Area Council of Imo State will experience a looming crisis soon, if nothing extraordinary is done to relief the sole administrator, Mr Hamilton Opara who is accused of dragging the council backwards irrespective of governor Hope Uzodinma’s efforts to Lift the standard of the council.
It was revealed that since the inception of the Solad, that the council has experienced it’s worst hit of diversion, extortion of revenue from traders in the market.Above all,his cronies were accused of embezzlement of 2023 election logistics funds amounting to thirty million naira ( 30,000,000) which was made for the presidential and National Assembly elections, and ten million naira (#10,000,000) campaign funds belonging to the twelve electoral wards in Mbaitoli covering over two hundred and eighty seven (287) polling units which resulted to the abysmal performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mbaitoli Council Area.
Opara who is said to be on a vendetta mission to recover all the money he purportedly lost during the last APC Imo house of Assembly primary elections which he aggressively spent in the pursuit of his interest before luck smile on him as he was appointed by the governor Senator Hope Uzodinma without a prior knowledge of what leadership is all about.
Some of the leaders interviewed, who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed displeasure with the high level of the abandonment of the council irrespective of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s efforts to promote human and infrastructural development in the State, should allow such person to pilot the affairs of such large local government in the state.
Furthermore, the leaders accused him of high-handedness, negligence to the constituted authorities and lack of administrative knowledge of the council.
One said,”Mbaitoli has never had it so bad like this before, we are disappointed that up till this moment the sole administrator is yet to Account for misappropriated/stollen campaign logistics funds.
“This is one of the reasons we did not do well in the last election, if not by the intervention of God and the efforts of some selfless leaders our house of Assembly and reps candidates would not have emerged.
“Govenor Uzodinma should as a matter of urgency, remove Hamilton now to save Mbaitoli from collapse as our Youths are preparing for a showdown.” They said.
All the efforts made to reach the sole administrator, Hamilton Opara proofed abortive as his phone number rigs severally without answer.
