The candidate of Labour Party for the November, 11, governorship election in Imo State, Senator Athan Achonu, will, in conjunction with the leadership of the party unveil his running mate, tomorrow, June, 2.
A source who doesn’t want to be mentioned disclosed that, ‘’the choice of who will be Senator Athan Achonu’s running mate was arrived at after extensive deliberations and consultations across party lines, religious and socio-cultural organizations. Hence, the person who will be unveiled tomorrow, will not only be acceptable to the people but will be seen to have emerged through a well articulated and thoroughly considered turn of events’’.
It would be recalled that Senator Athan Achonu emerged as the party’s flag bearer after a keenly contested primary election held at Landmark Event Center, New Owerri on April, 15.
His emergence, according to party sources has been trailed by mass acceptance and jubilation as a result of his antecedents, vision, love and commitment to the socio-economic development of Igbo land, which led to the formation of his ‘’Aku ruo ulo” project that is aimed at fast tracking development in Igbo land.
It was also gathered that, ‘’Senator Athan Achonu, is not only committed to the development of Igbo land but, is also leading by example. He is, presently building the largest farm in Nigeria, which is located in his village, in Ehime Mbano LGA.
The Director General of Athan Achonu campaign organization, Engr Chime Nzeribe, in a chat with journalists, expressed optimism that Labour Party will win the November, 11, Imo governorship election. ‘’It is not about making noise or raising unnecessary dust. The truth is that, Imo people are in dire need of paradigm shift. They need a leadership that will be considerate and sensitive to their plights and not one that is insensitive and aloof’’.
Engr Nzeribe, also commended Imo people for the love, support and commitment they exhibited during the last election and urged them to remain firm and resolute adding that, ‘’it is not yet over, until it is over’’.
