Why Uzodinma Dumped Deputy As Running Mate
The least has not be heard about why Senator Hope Uzodinma dropped his Deputy Governor,Prof Placid Njoku as his running mate for the forthcoming governorship election,slated November 11,2023.
A government house source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that Uzodinma believes that Njoku may not add much value to his reelection bid as he has not shown sufficient capacity in mobilising his people ,in Mbaitoli let alone the entire Federal Constituency since his emergence as Deputy Governor of Imo State.
According to the source,Uzodinma is unhappy with the outcome of the last elections which saw All Progressives Congress,APC performing poorly in both National and House of Assembly elections.
He said,”Uzodinma was advised to work so hard to win the election as he may not be that favoured by the judiciary,going by the scandals that trailed his declaration by the Supreme court after 2019 election.
Meanwhile,they have been mixed reactions over the shortlisting of Uzodinma’s kinsman and serving Commissioner for works,Barr Ralph Nwosu by Independent Electoral commission,INEC.
Among those condemning the governor’s decision are mainly the Owerri and Okigwe people who feel that ordinarily the slot should have been for either zones.
