It was jubilation galore, as two student beneficiaries of Ohams Global Initiative (OGI) scholarship scheme recently won the first edition of the WAZOBIA Debate, organized by the Wazobia Diaspora Worldwide.
Onwenu Favour Chigozie, a student of Chemistry at the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education and Obiocha Sandra Chinonso, a student of Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede won the debate which the organizers said was designed to awaken national consciousness, political participation, promote civic education and social responsibilities in the African continent and environ’’.
The event which took place on Monday, April 24, 2023 dwelt on the topic, ‘’ WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE JUST CONCLUDED ELECTION IN NIGERIA AND WHAT IMPROVEMENT CAN YOU SUGGEST FOR THE NEXT ELECTION’’.
The Director General of OGI, Comrade Chimezie G.O Ozurumba (Ariri-Erimba) expressed satisfaction with intellectual capacity of beneficiaries of its scholarship scheme adding that aside focusing on the indigent and less privileged, the also consider brilliance and intelligence Quotient (IQ) as part of the rationale for selecting beneficiaries.
He further said, ‘’there won’t be any justice to this report if I fail to mention a man whom despite the global economic downturn spending hundreds of millions in taking care of the accommodation tuition fees, and textbooks of these upcoming scholars and many others amounting to over One hundred students (100) generally.
The winners in their respective speeches appreciated God almighty for His grace, Love, and sustainability, while also appreciating High-Chief Ohams for his unprecedented magnanimity to humanity. The students reiterated their commitment in keeping the OGI flag flying wherever they find themselves.
They thanked the WAZOBIA DIASPORA WORLDWIDE led by Lady Nikky Emelike for organizing such an academic reignition program’’.
