– Say Attacks, Harassment Of Igbos in Lagos, Invitation To Anarchy
Following the widespread irregularities, violence, attacks, harassment, voter suppression among others, that characterized the February, 25 presidential and national assembly elections and the March 18, governorship and house of assembly elections in the country, a group known as Obidient Youth Movement, has called on the judiciary to live up to expectation as the last hope of the common man, in respect of the pending election petitions.
The Labour party speaking through the National Youth Leader, Prince Kenndy Ahanotu condemned in very strong terms the persistent calls by some disgruntled elements for the arrest of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba Ahmed, adding that nothing but obvious invitation to anarchy and chaos.
This was contained in a press statement read by the Acting National Youth Leader of Labour Party while addressing journalists at the party’s office, in Owerri the Imo State capital on Sunday, April, 2, 2023.
He said the press briefing was necessitated by the ugly turn of events in the country, following the wrongful declaration of the February, 25, Presidential election result and the questionable refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to review collated results despite verifiable reports of compromise falsification, disenfranchisement, attacks, harassment and intimidation by hired thugs and hoodlums who allegedly operated with the active connivance of security agents and officials of INEC who, were said to have made themselves willing tools in the hands of State Governor.
Ahanotu stated that Nigerians must live as free citizens wherever they are in any part of this country.
He added that the Nigerian security agencies should please employ high level of professional conduct in executing their jobs and desist from being ready tools in the hands of power drunk politicians who have kept us below the bars of international standards.
“Having stated the above as a matter of solidarity, we therefore pass vote of towering confidence on our National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure. We urge Nigerians to ignore any kind of selfish call for his suspension from disgruntled individuals. All the obidient family members are fully with our distinguished National Chairman, who pioneered the journey of taking back our country.
“We the Obidient Youths also pass vote of confidence on the Nigeria’s Judiciary. We refuse to accept the insinuation that the Judiciary has been cowed and pocketed by powers that be to subvert justice and the popular wishes Nigerians.
“All hopes are not lost. We are on course. We shall take back our country and set it up for peace and unity. progress and prosperity’’.
