An Owerri based legal practioner, Barr Ikechukwu Nwaopara who has been in the news for sometime now, for alleged impersonation and forgery is said to be in the eye of the storm as a revered Monarch and Chairman, Mbieri Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH, Eze Peter Opara has threatened legal action against him in addition to writing to inform the Nigeria Bar Association NBA of the alleged nefarious activities of Barr Nwaopara and his alleged involvement in shady deals.
Eze Opara while speaking to this Reporter, said he will leave no stone unturned in his effort to ensure that Barr Nwaopara is brought to book for impersonation and misrepresentation of facts as regards the council’s stand on the issue of Obi Mbieri autonomous community, its Traditional Prime Minister and the Ezeship stool.
He further stated that this is not the first time that Barr Nwaopara who, incidentally hails from the community is playing hide and seek, stressing that he (Nwaopara), had sometime in the past fraudulently tampered with some of the council’s document.
Speaking in the same vein, a group known as Mbieri Development Initiative,MDI comprising the four autonomous communities in Mbieri Ancient Kingdom, has cautioned Barr Ikechukwu Nwaopara and others who are taking advantage of the absence of the traditional ruler of Obi Mbieri autonomous community, HRH, Eze J.N. Osuji to cause confusion and defraud unsuspecting indigenes of the community to desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the National Chairman, Gift Okoroji said, ‘’having followed the prevailing development for sometime, we have realized that the Barr Nwaopara has vested interest in the Obi Mbieri Ezeship matter. Besides, investigation has also shown that he was at no time consulted, appointed nor his services hired by the Supreme Council of Mbieri Traditional Rulers who, as a matter of fact will under no circumstance seek his services in view of his alleged questionable antecedents’’.
Continuing, the group said, ‘’we will in no distant time expose all those who are hiding under the present development to cause trouble in the community, in a bid to achieve their selfish interests’’.
They likened the prevailing situation to what happened in the country in 2009, when some cabals who knew the truth of the matter, decided to play to the gallery for selfish reasons,until Nigerians took the bull by the horn and Goodluck Jonathan was sworn in as acting President.
‘’We are committed to the development of Mbieri and would not allow people of questionable antecedents and pedigree like Barr Ikechukwu Nwaopara and his cohorts to derail our focus’’.
