Say:Uzodinma’s performance has surpassed expectation
A group of serving and non serving parliamentarians in Imo State under the auspices of Imo Joint Parliament has endorsed Governor Hope Uzodinma as its sole candidate for the November 11, Governorship election.
The group also called on other governorship candidates especially those of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the Labour Party LP Candidate,Senator Athan Achonu to jettison their ambition and support the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Hope Uzodinma who is seeking re-election to achieve his ambition which according to them will be in the overall interest of the state and her people.
The group, consisting mostly of serving and former federal lawmakers, who stated this at a press conference addressed on their behalf by former legislators representing Oguta state constituency, Hon Ezediaro Uzoma Henry said their decision is hinged on the fact that Governor Uzodinma seasoned lawmaker who understands the rudiments of people-oriented governance has performed beyond expectation in all ramifications.
According to them, ‘’Governor Uzodinma’s has performed excellently since he assumed office barley three and half years ago. His giant strides in the area of infrastructural development is unprecedented. He has performed better than all the past governors since the return of democracy in 1999. His re-election has nothing to do with rotation or the much orchestrated charter of equity but is based on performance and the need to consolidate on the 3R mantra that is aimed at further transforming and reposition the state for the good of all.
Speaking on behalf of the Parliamentarians, Ezediaro said, the reason for the berth of this forum is to foster unity of purpose and cohesion among legislators for the common good of all.
This body will also ensure that projects are evenly spread and located in the various constituencies without sentiment or prejudice.
‘’Having said that, we wish to command and congratulate the Governor of Imo State His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma for his exceptional performance since he assumed office in the past 31/2 years. As seasoned legislators who have served in different capacities, and have what it takes to measure performance, we wish to boldly say that Gov Hope Uzodinma has performed creditably and as such, deserves to be re-elected for second tenure of four years to enable him consolidate on his numerous land mark achievements across the state, despite the numerous challenges occasioned by he Covid-19 pandemic that confronted him shortly after he assumed office, the frightening insecurity that he met on assumption of office, among others it is gratifying that Gov Uzodinma s a seasoned administrator deployed his wealth of experience towards addressing all these challenges that came up as distractions.
He proactively devised strategies through which they were nipped in the bud. On the issue of insecurity, to the glory of God Imolites now go about their lawful duties freely without fear of attack or molestation.
On this premise, we appeal to all aggrieved individuals and groups in the state to sheath their swords and support our Governor who has made more infrastructural giant strides than all past Governors since 1999’’.
They cited the Owerri-Orlu road, Owerri-Umuahia road, Owerri-Okigwe road, the World Bank dualized carriage way, and the several internal link roads in the state, especially in Owerri Municipality which according to them, were death traps before Governors Uzodinma came on board as some of the reasons that justify his re-election.
‘’Gov Uzodinma has carved a mche for himself. He has within 31/2 year written his name in gold in the annals of democratic governance.
On this premise, we the members of Imo State Joint Parliament hereby adopts Governor Hope Uzodinma as our sole candidate for the November, 11, Imo State Governorship election. We therefore appeal to the candidates of the PDP, Labour Party and others to shun their ambitions and support him’’.
