-Reject Daniel Iwuamadi as Munarch
The people of Eziama community in Ikeduru local government area have appealed to the government of Imo state led by Senator Hope Uzodinma to arrest and prosecute a prominent Imo politician,Chief Charles Iwuamadi(Chavon) and former Interim Management Committee chairman of Ikeduru local government Chief Tony Iwuamadi and three others for acts of brigandage, forceful invasion of Ikeduru local government with disregard to the rule of law and causing breach of public peace as they are rejecting plots by the trio to foist Daniel Iwuamadi on them as their traditional ruler.
In a letter addressed to the governor of Imo state through their counsel, Damian Iwunze onbehalf of ten elders of Eziama autonomous community, made available to the media captioned “Act of brigandage, invasion of Ikeduru local government, undue disregard for the rule of law and breach of public peace by Mr Tony Iwuamadi and others “, the people would want the government to arrest the accused for their alleged acts of lawlessness.
The village heads comprising Chief Edmund Mbaegbu, Chief Goddy Ibeawuchi, Malachy Mba, Nduka Ogu, Bonaventure Opara, Mercillious Uzodinma, Christopher Ohiri, Valentine Uwa, Goddy Uwah Colins Ibe Ibemesim with Goddy Kwunwenne and Patrick acting on behalf of the Eziama Town Union and stakeholders of all the villages that make up Eziama autonomous community averred as follows through their solicitor, that, “Our client’s are stakeholders from all the villages that make up eziama autonomous community in Ikeduru L.G.A. Imo State.
“It is our instruction that on the 4th day of August 2022, the Trio of Charles Iwuamadi (CHAVON), Daniel Iwuamadi and Tony Jude Iwuamadi who incidentally was removed on the 21-7-22 as former Interim Management Chairman of Ikeduru L.G.A. invaded the Headquarters of Ikeduru L.G.A. at Iho, forcibly entered the premises and broke into the council hall with heavily armed thugs numbering well over 30, injured many persons and destroyed government properties.
“Our clients further brief is that their actions was not unconnected with several failed attempts to force the presentation of Mr. Daniel Iwuamadi to the Ikeduru Local Government Council even when he was not identified and selected by the people of Eziama Ikeduru in spite of the pendency of a suit against him for which the local government council and your humble self was named as parties.
“In obedience to the rule of law and respect to the pendency of the suit HOW/384/2022 – PRINCE ANAELE OBASI OPARAUGO & 5 ORS v. THE GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE & 3 ORS, Which was duly served on the Council the council and its officials distanced themselves from receiving the said Daniel Iwuamadi while Mr. Tony Jude Iwuamadi (Former Council Chairman) impersonated himself and purportedly received for presentation the said Daniel Iwuamadi, an action which is fraudulent and criminal in nature. The video of this ignoble act which has gone viral is not only embarrassing to the local government but a complete affront to the integrity of your government which ikeduru L.G.A. is an integral part”.
In addition to the six paragraph petition to the governor of Imo state to wade into the crisis in the community, the people on Wednesday August, 10, at the NUJ Press center along Port Harcourt road to buttress their demands held press conference on the bugging issues.
A statement signed by Chief Bournaventure Opara and Chief Edmund Mbaegbu described the action of Chavon as popularly called,the former IMC chairman and others as gross desecration of the traditional stool and an insult to the people of Eziama and government of Imo state, given that the former IMC chairman had been removed from office when he and his cohorts in a gestapo manner stormed the council headquarters to present one Mr. Daniel Iwuamadi for recognition as traditional ruler of Eziama, Ikeduru against the wishes and aspiration of the entire community.
According to them,it is on record that the people of Eziama Ikeduru had in an elaborate ceremony after the mandatory one year period of mourning of Late Canice Obasi, identified and selected Prince Anaele Obasi, son of late HRH Eze Canice Obasi as the Eze-Elect for presentation and recognition by the Government which move was frustrated by Mr. Tony Jude Iwuamadi all through the period he held sway as IMC chairman and cannot after his removal from office impersonate the office of the LGA chairman to foist “their” surrogate and imposter, Daniel Iwuamadi on the community aside the crown prince who was unanimously selected by the community.
“We urge the Government to arrest the trio of Charles Iwuamadi, Daniel Iwuamadi and the impersonator, Tony Jude Iwuamadi and bring them to Justice. It is completely wrong to allow the use of government institution for personal whims and caprices as well as bring same to unnecessary ridicule.
“In as much as we lose no sleep over the development as such action holds no water, we consider it imperative to let the Imo people know those behind the plot to destabilize the community for selfish political gains.
“There is no doubt their action is brewing tension in a once peaceful community.
“And as law abiding people of Eziama, we call on every well meaning citizen of Imo state to call Mr Charles Iwuamadi and his co-travellers to order and advise them to stop dropping the name of the governor of Imo state, senator Hope Uzodinma.
Finally we, understand that such action was not done with the knowledge and approval of the governor of Imo state, contrary to the boasting of Chief Charles Iwuamadi(Charvon) as government will not for any reason disregard a pending court case to recognize anyone as traditional ruler of the community.
