The Labour Party candidate for Orlu state constituency , Comrade Precious Nwadike has assured the people of the area who have for some time now been subjected to ” extra judicial killings, unlawful arrest, detention, and arson perpetrated and masterminded by hoodlums, overzealous security operatives” that Orlu local government area and environ will breathe fresh air if elected, as he would work in synergy with relevant agencies and like minds to find lasting solution to the menace.
Comrade Nwadike who gave this assurance when he hosted the leadership of Orlu LGA Labour party, ably led by Chief Kenneth Uwakwe in Owerri recently.He reiterated that his emergence as lawmaker for Orlu State Assembly will be the dawn of a new era for the people who will enjoy the benefits of quality and effective representation.
He regretted that Orlu that was known to be calm and economically viable has become a shadow of itself as a result of poor and ineffective representation arising from the inability of the elected representatives of the people to be proactive, patriotic and sensitive to the plights of the people whose collective mandate they hold in trust.
He called on the electorate to resist any temptation to sell their votes, saying that if they exchange their votes for little money which can only address their daily needs, they would have mortgaged their future and at the same time lose the moral right to challenge those in authority on accountability.
Comrade Nwadike, a renowned human rights activist assured that, “every infraction that is not in tandem with democratic norms will be addressed and necessary explanation given. A public complaint team comprising reputable lawyers from the LGA will be set up to look into cases of human rights abuses with a view to addressing them and proffer lasting solutions. This is necessary because no society develops in an atmosphere of chaos, rancor and abuse of human rights. That is why restoring peace and tranquility in Orlu will be my utmost priority, in addition to job creation, and skill acquisition aimed at empowering women and youths.
The pioneer National President of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, the apex socio-cultural youth body of Orlu zone blamed the rising insecurity in Orlu on failure of leadership particularly the elected representatives who have continuously looked the other way while the area is on fire.
“I am pained by the sufferings of Orlu people. We need to rebuild and restore economic activities. It takes an honest and courageous leader to address the myriad of problems facing the area and like you know, I have over time fought for the downtrodden even at the expense of my personal safety and can’t get tired of doing so”, Nwadike stated.
He assured Orlu people that if elected, “he will not rest on his oars until peace, tranquility and robust economic activities are restored for the good of our people.
“My stay in the Imo State House of Assembly will turn around the fortunes of Orlu people, especially the youths. As an employer of labour who understands the rudiments of job creation, my attributes and wealth of experience would come to play, if elected”.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Director General, Orlu Restoration Team, Comrade Nnamdi Achi, a former President of the Student Union Government(SUG), Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, stated that, Comrade Precious Nwadike has always been a round peg in a round hole as regards occupying positions of trust and responsibility.
He recalled that, “as a student of Ojike Memorial Secondary School,Orlu Comrade Nwadike as the Senior Prefect of the school was adjudged to have performed excellently, to the admiration of teachers and his fellow students.
At the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Orlu Local Government Students Association (OLGASA) under his watch unveiled the maiden edition of its magazine called “THE ISSUE MAGAZINE.” As a result of his numerous land mark achievements, Orlu Students in all universities in Nigeria under the auspices of National Association of Orlu Students, NAORS elected him as their National President. It is also on record that he performed excellently.”
As a member of the students union government of FUTO and Chairman of the institution’s electoral committee, transparency, justice and due process were given prominence .”
Continuing, Comrade Achi said, “Precious Nwadike if elected as a member of the Imo State house of Assembly for Orlu state constituency, will replicate what he did as the pioneer President of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly where he set unprecedented record that is yet to be matched or beaten by any person till date.”
“it is on record that at a time when youth organizations placed little premium on accountability, Comrade Nwadike did not only acquire an official vehicle for the union but also through his contacts and the confidence reposed in him by Orlu leaders who held him in high esteem because of his antecedents and unblemished track record donated motorcycles for the Coordinators of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly.
To crown it all, at the end of his purposeful and result-oriented tenure, Nwadike, contrary to wide spread speculations and to the expectations of many handed over the official vehicle, a Toyota Sienna Bus to his successor, Darlington Uzoahia to the astonishment of many who knew the circumstances surrounding the official vehicle and Comrade Nwadike’s contributions towards its acquisition”.
Achi urged all sons, daughters and the entire Orlu electorate to moblilze support for Labour party and ensure victory for the party in the 2023 election. This, he said will turn around the fortune of the local government area and her people.
He noted that the icing on the cake of Nwadike’s achievements is the way he succeeded in transforming the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ Imo State Council shortly after assuming office as Chairman, of the Caretaker Committee.
Nwadike on assuming office as Chairman of Imo NUJ, embarked on the renovation of the vandalized property. Within a very short time he restored power and water supply, a modern restaurant/cafeteria,well equipped and functional cyber café, employed the services of well remunerated security guards,etc. His achievements as Caretaker Committee Chairman of Imo NUJ within a very short time tells a lot about Nwadike’s passionate commitment to the achievement of people-oriented goals and objectives”, Achi said”.
“Comrade Nwadike, a winner of several awards of merit and Member of so many professional bodies, including; Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria ISPON, International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) among others has the capacity, experience and the wherewithat to offer quality, effective and people-oriented representation which Orlu people need at this point in time, if elected”,Achi posited.
Speaking during the occasion, the Orlu LGA chairman of Labour Party, Chief Kenneth Uwakwe assured Nwadike of the support of Orlu people.He added that the party made the best choice nominating him and other Labour party candidates in the Federal Constituency to fly the flag.
Uwakwe expressed happiness over the turn of event in Imo state which has clearly shown that Orlu people and Imolites in general need a paradigm shift and are at home with Labour party.
