After the re-run of the rescheduled primary election, erstwhile Special Adviser to former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, Engr Rex Okoro was declared the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party house of assembly ticket for Ahiazu state constituency.
There was spontaneous jubilation among constituents, most of who described Engr Rex Okoro as the best candidate for the job, in view of his antecedents.
In the election earlier held on May 26, Rex Okoro defeated his opponents but the national leadership of the party cancelled the election , claiming there was irregularity.
However all the delegates who voted in the earlier election still voted for Rex and he defeated his closest opponent with one vote.
