The new executive of the Institute of Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Imo State Chapter was inaugurated over the weekend.
The newly inaugurated 15th executive of the association led by Deacon Okereke was advised by the Accountant General of the state, Okafor Chukwunyaka to address the issue of excessive charges paid by bank customers which according to him, is not in line with present day realities.
Mr Okafor stated that it is expected that the new EXCO tackles these excessive bank charges, which ranges from Loans, Automatic Machine Services Charge (ATM) and other financial transactions which are frequently occurring as alerts to customers in order to balance the system.
He maintained that the 15th EXCO is urged to add new leaf to what their predecessor has done to elevate the standard of the association.
Also speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the immediate past Chairman of the 14th EXCO, Sir Israel Osigwe Commended the capacity of the 15th EXCO of Imo state ICAN in ensuring the sustainability of the standard of the association led by Deacon Okereke Udochukwu.
Sir Osigwe said that he is aware of the ability of Deacon Okereke who served as the Vice chairman during his watch as the chairman and his meaningful contributions to the upliftment of the association.
He explained that he has no doubt in the leadership contributions the new EXCO will add to the association’s glory.
Deacon Okereke in his speech, said that the new EXCO will improve on the existing operational tools in order to carve an inch for better performance in the financial institutions, to propel growth and development in the state. He said that with the experience he has acquired over the years, and the contributions of the team, there would be breakthrough in the task they are called upon to serve the people.
The 15th leadership of Imo ICAN solicited support to enable them succeed as an association.
