Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Imo Eastsenate seat in the 2023 general election, Mr Chyma Anthony, has hailedthe decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)to extend the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exerciseinitially slated to end in June, 2022.
Anthony was reacting to the statement by the chairman of the House ofRepresentatives Committee on Electoral Matters, Hon. Aishatu JibrilDukku, who disclosed while briefing lawmakers on the committee’sefforts to ensure implementation of a House resolution on Wednesday inAbuja.
In a statement he issued to the press on Friday in Abuja, Anthony saidthe decision to extend the registration date is a welcome developmentwhile urging youths of Imo East Senatorial District and Imo State totake advantage of the extension to get themselves registered as votersto enable them participate in the 2023 general elections.
He urged INEC to ensure that more men and equipment are deployed tospeed up the capturing time and to reduce fatigue among willing Nigerians.
He said,”this is a golden opportunity for our people especially our youthsthat have shown unprecedented enthusiasm in the 2023 generalelections.
“I want to charge all the youths of voting age in Imo East (OwerriZone), Imo State and all over Nigeria to come out for this importantexercise if they truly yearn for good governance and betterfuture”.
The APGA candidate also cautioned youths against selling their votesfor a piece of meal to politicians who do not mean good for them.
“The PVC is the sure passport to go to the poll to cast our votes withthe hope that exercising our civic right will usher in a governmentthat works in our best interest,” he added.
