The news that Hon Geff Ojinika, a former member of the House of Representatives for Orlu, Orsu and Oru East has joined the race for Orlu senatorial seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has elicited jubilation in Orsu local government area and environ where gunmen and security operatives for some time now have been invading the area with over 100 persons fearing dead while none of the elected representatives has made any effort to proffer solution or sympathize with the victims of the attack.
One of those who expressed happiness at Ojineke’s declaration of interest in the Orlu Senate Seat, come 2023, said, we are delighted that a vocal, compassionate and people-oriented and experienced legislator like Ojinika has finally declared his interest to run for Orlu Senate because we know his pedigree and commitment to the welfare of the people unlike the insensitive breed that presently parade themselves as our leaders.
Our youths are being slaughtered like fouls, socio-economic activities in all communities in Orsu LGA are at a standstill as people are afraid of going out. Presently the few young men around, leave Orsu on Sunday evenings for Owerri and other places to avoid being victims of attack or unlawful arrest and detention.
“The news of Ojinika’s declaration is not only a welcome development but source of hope and socour because he was consistently condemned the unprofessional conduct of security operatives and insisted that the idea of victimizing innocent people in a bid to get at hoodlums or bandits is unacceptable.”
Most Orsu indigenes and residents who commented on Hon Ojinika’s declaration expressed delight that he has joined the race, stressing that if given the ticket he will perform creditably.
They prayed that the PDP will give him the ticket to ensure quality, effective and purposeful representation.
