The Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has disclosed his readiness to ensure that traders in the state are happy as they transact their business in a peaceful and prosperous environment.
The Governor stated this, Thursday, on the occasion of distribution of rice from him to Imo traders in an outstanding display of love and shared prosperity.
Speaking during the occasion that took place at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, State Secretariat, Owerri, the honourable commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Comrade Simon Ebegbulem, who represented Governor Uzodimma, extolled him for his generosity and love to traders in the State and disclosed that the Government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has many good programmes lined up for traders adding that the Governor wants Imo traders, who are in the majority to be the happy and have of belonging.
Comrade Ebegbulem commended the President of Imo State Amalgamated Markets and Traders Association (ISAMATA) and Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets, Hon. Emmanuel Ezeanochie and his team for doing a great job.

He also thanked the traders for implementing the clean up exercise in the markets while praising Gov. Uzodimma’ for tackling insecurity in the State decisively. He urged the traders to continue to support the government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and harped on the need for prompt collection and remittance of all govt revenue to the appropriate Government Single Treasury Account.
He assured that traders will soon have meeting with the Governor promising that henceforth anything that is shared by the party will reach the traders.
In his remarks, The President of ISAMATA, Hon. Ezeanochie thanked the Governor for the gift of rice, all the good work he is doing in Imo State and special love for Imo traders, adding that he will galvanize all traders in the State to give unalloyed support to the government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
He disclosed that shops are still being sold and all revenue must go to Government TSA operation account with Fidelity Bank. He warned that anyone collecting cash for shop will be dealt with as ISAMATA only receives evidence of payment into Government Single Treasury Account.
About the ISAMATA Housing Estate, in Irete, Hon. Ezeanochie pointed out that foundation of the estate will be laid shortly and encouraged traders to avail themselves of the opportunity to own houses in the estate, which is the first market association estate in the southeast Nigeria.
Speaking, the State Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ISAMATA and Chairman of Revenue Recovery Committee, Chief Ifeanyi Igwe, warned market chairmen to desist from tampering with government revenue collection and remittance, stressing that the govt needs the internally generated revenue (IGR) to provide amenities for the masses.
The meeting was also attended by other members of ISAMATA State Executive including the State Secretary, Sir DonChris Okere, Orlu Zonal President, Hon. Udoka Mgbemere, Okigwe Zonal President, Hon. Chikwe Ezigwe, Owerri Zonal President, Hon. David Okoko, State Financial Secretary, Hon Peter Etoh, State Treasurer Hon. Protus Okwudi, Hon. Collins Madufor, High Chief Vincent Igbozuruike, Chief Ambrose Agbaere, State Woman leader, Mrs Ngozi Francis and market leaders including women from all the markets in the State.
