There was pandemonium at Senator Osita Izunaso’s home town, Ozara, in Oru West local government area of Imo State in the early hours of yesterday as dare devil gunmen invaded the area between 4am and 5am, shot sporadically in different directions, after which one Ebenezer.Who worked as a vigilante coordinator in the area during Rochas Okorocha’s tenure as governor of Imo State was killed while an APC Chieftain named Augustine Ezigbo who hails from Ohakpu also in Oru West LGA was abducted to an unknown destination.
A source who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity expressed regret that, “at a time they thought that the wave of insecurity in the area has reduced based on what the state government has been saying, they just woke up to witness such a frightening, traumatic and devastating development that sent shivers down the spines of residents of the area, most of who have fled to avoid being victims of stray bullets.
The source further stated that those of them in the APC appear to be the primary targets, hence he has concluded arrangement to flee from the community to avoid being victim of the nefarious activities of the hoodlums.
He recalled that, “the Personal Assistant of the Interim Management Council Chairman of Oru West LGA who is also the Imo State chairman of ALGON, Hon Willie Okolieogwo was murdered in cold blood last year, while the chairman’s house was set ablaze.”
When contacted, the IMC chairman, Okolieogwo confirmed the report.He stated that effort is being made to rescue the APC chairman who was abducted.
