A Former Governorship Candidate in Imo State, Elder Dr. George 0. Ibeatuche QP) has commended patriotic Imo Journalists led by Comrade Precious Nwadike for their gallant intervention in stopping the sale of the Imo State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists by some unpatriotic imposter in the State. He paid glowing tributes to Comrade Elder Lambert Ojukwu and other patriotic journalists for their positive efforts in stopping “the criminal action as published in the newspapers.”
Elder Dr. George 0. Ibeatuche veteran Journalist expressed this view while reacting to the newspaper publication on this retrogressive development. He recalled that the prestigious Imo NUJ Secretariat located along the Owerri-Port Harcourt Road is harboring the International Institution of Journalism which is affiliated to the University of Maiduguri, coupled with the fact that this great Institution had contributed immensely in training reputable journalists within and outside Imo State.
Elder Ibeatuche further pleaded with the forum of Imo patriotic Journalists to arrest and prosecute all those involved in the vandalization and attempted sale of Imo NUJ secretariat as published to serve as a deterrent to other erring journalists.
He further prayed for God’s intervention to enable journalists in Imo State to be patriotic in rendering their quality services to the government and people of Imo State.
