The Heartland Leadership Club, Owerri over the weekend held her 2021 end of the year lunch / lecture to thank God for his protection, guidiance and numerous blessings.
In his welcome address at the during the occasion, President of Heartland Leadership Club Owerri, LDR, Mr Agumbah Hanson stated that ‘Heartland Leadership Club Owerri, “is in the business of molding tomorrow’s leaders”.
He added that the club was born out of the urgent need to address the numerous leadership challenges facing Nigeria as a country over the years.
According to him, “our vision is to produce for our country Nigeria an entirely new generation of leaders of high integrity, leaders who will be selfless, righteous, upright, incorruptible and honest. Leaders who will lead with the fear of God and place the People’s interest above selfish and clannish interests “.
The President also pointed out that the association will constantly engage the youths in workshops and training, ICT training, Skills acquisition, Civic and moral education etc to ensure they are better equipped to assume their roles as tomorrow’s leaders.
He called on men and women of integrity to know that their arms are wide open to receive them into the club in order to bring the desired change in the society.
Delivering his lecture on the theme: Leadership Challenges in the 21st Century Africa: A case study of Nigeria, Associate Prof. Sam Ezeanyika of the Imo State University Owerri, called for the reorientation of people’s mind on what leadership is all about. He maintained that leadership should form part of Nigeria educational system to inculcate it into the lives of youths from day one.
Contributing, the Chairman of the occasion and Commissioner designate in Imo State, Chief Ford Ozumba, commended the club and its leadership for their efforts towards making the society better.
He pointed out that leadership is something that involves everybody at all levels and thanked Heartland Leadership Club Owerri for taking a positive step in changing people’s views and mindset on what leadership is all about.
Highlight of the occasion was the inauguration of the clubs executive ably led by LDR. Agumbah Hanson as President, Ldr. Nnoromele Nnaemeka Vice President, Ldr. Asika Ifeanyi Secretary, Ldr. Nwokedi Henry, Financial Secretary, Ldr. Abuchi Osuajoku Treasurer, Ldr. Mathew Uloneme Assistant Secretary and Barrister Egejurum Emmanuel as the clubs Legal Adviser.
