-Okay Egbu Declaration
The Federation of Orlu Youths Assemblies (FOYA) has aligned with the content of Egbu Declaration,pointing out that in the spirit of equity, justice and fairness; it is the turn of Owerri zone to produce the next Governor of the state.
The group stated this in a release dated December, 2, 2021, signed by Comrade G.O.C Nwadike, Henry Ohaechesi and Anayo Eburuaja as President, Director of Publicity and Director of Mobilization respectively.
FOYA maintained that “Orlu people believe in equity and in the live-I-live philosophy of life, hence we do not covet others. This can be seen when we served out our tenure of eight years in Douglas House under HE, Gov. Achike Udenwa. We gladly accepted to support and insist on a governor of Imo from Okigwe zone and we achieved it. Those opposing our collective will for equity are simply enemies of the State;
“When some hawks emerged and snatched that mandate from Okigwe zone, thus denying them the opportunity of a second term, we again in 2019, endorsed and supported Owerri zone, though the same enemies of the State used their accumulated might to try to stop them. As a people, Orlu zone voted for equity. We voted against _Mmegbu_.”
The release further stated that, “we refuse to accept the trending cliché that Orlu zone is selfish and greedy. Through various bodies and platforms, we maintained that Orlu zone had no moral right to partake in the governorship contest of 2019, and we stood by it. FOYA insists that Orlu zone never voted or supported any of her sons or daughters in 2019 for the governorship position in Imo against Owerri and Okigwe zones in 2019;
“FOYA appreciates that _mmegbu a dighi mma_, hence calls on Owerri zone to call its people who have been major drivers of the _mmegbu_ against them to order. This is because there has never been any loss experienced by the zone that was not chiefly driven from the zone”
“FOYA therefore assures Owerri zone that we, as progressive Youths of Orlu zone, shall once again, align with the Egbu Declaration, to state that _Mmegbu A Dighi Mma_. We shall support our Owerri people to recover what has been stolen from them from above.
We shall massively, as always, support Owerri zone come 2023 because we believe in fairness, equity and justice for all as the only channel towards achieving sustainable peace.”
