· Vows to resist imposition
The leadership, stakeholders and indigenes of Obollo in Isala Mbano L.G.A have called on the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Isiala Mbano LGA Hon Chika Okoroike to desist forthwith from interfering in the affairs of Obollo Town Union or face the full wrath of the law.
The autonomous community in a letter addressed to the IMC Chairman with the caption, “Demand that you desist from further interfering in the Domestic governance of Obollo autonomous community” signed by their lawyer, Barr Chigozirim C. Nwaodu, Principal Solicitor, The Liberation Chambers stated that, “We are solicitors to a host of concerned stakeholders of Obollo living in Nigeria and overseas who are hereinafter called our clients. For our said clients and on their firm instructions, we hereby write to demand that you forthwith desist from further interfering in the domestic governance of Obollo autonomous community.
The release reads on part,”It is not disputed that you were appointed the interim political head of Isiala-Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State as the IMC Chairman, an office that you occupy at the pleasure, whim and caprice of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma. As an LGA Chair, your duties or functions are clearly stipulated in the 1999 constitution as well as the relevant Imo State Local Government Bylaws.
“With immense respect, we are sure and certain that none of these enactments ever confers any powers to your good self to dictate, nominate and or appoint all or any of the leaders of any indigenous community in the local government areas, Obollo inclusive. To the best of our knowledge, there is no warrant whatsoever authorizing you as the IMC Chief to do so either directly or by proxy.
“We note, with utmost dismay, that some months ago, you unilaterally appointed Mr. Anselm Onuoha as the President-General of Obollo (hereinafter referred to as *the PG*). This was when concerted efforts were underway for the conduct of our general elections. This fact was well known to you, Sir. Ironically, you not only frustrated the said elections but picked the very head of that umpire as the PG.
“For the avoidance of doubt, our clients are irresistibly poised to challenge your further intrusion and or meddlesomeness in their domestic political affairs as you have, most unfortunately, entertained yourself thus far. They are ready and willing not only to take severe administrative actions against you but also to immediately interrogate these ultra vires manifestations at the appropriate High Court of Imo State. To that effect, we humbly advise you to reverse forthwith all the political actions you have so far taken with respect to our clients’ Obollo community, including but not limited to the baseless appointment of Mr. Anselm Onuoha as PG and related officers.
Further to paragraph 6 herein, your undated letter which was signed on 16/11/2021 pretentiously sacking the the OGA Executive Committee must be deemed to have become invalid or utterly superfluous. This is because our clients intend to persuade the entire Obollo town to disregard all the questionable interventions from the Isiala-Mbano LGA and return Mr. Anselm Onuoha to his former but highly valued position as the PTR Chairman so that they can conclude the Obollo general elections which the PTR Panel was about to conduct for the community”.
