-Abandons Ebubeagu security outfit for another
The Imo State Executive Council at its meeting on Wednesday November 17 approved a supplementary budget of N31.9 billion which has already been sent to the Imo state House of Assembly for necessary action to enable the governor carry out sundry expenditure for the 2021 fiscal year with the sole aim of combating continued challenges in the state as the government is now ready to set its own security network several months after the South East governors had at their meeting at Enugu agreed to set similar security network code named “Ebube Agu”.
A statement from the new media center indicate that the supplementary budget which has been sent to the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) for necessary action, would in addition to others, settle expenditure incurred in the course of combating the insecurity witnessed in the State recently.
Despite the limited resources at the disposal of the State, there was urgent need to arrest the ugly monster that reared its head against the people of Imo State. However, this came at a cost hence the supplementary budget as proposed.
In the same vein and in keeping with the commitment of the State Government to sustain and improve on the current security network of the state, the Government would launch the Imo State Security Network in the next few days.
A conjugation of other security outfits of the State vis-a-vis Community Policing, Imo State Vigilante etc, and the Imo State Security Network would complement the existing security arrangement in order to ensure security of lives and properties of Imolites especially with the yuletide season at hand.
With the development, the governor of Imo state may have concluded plans to do away with the Ebubeagu security outfit which the South East Governors constituted early this year to curb rising security challenges.
