-Members regret not heading to court

The fate of the six suspended lawmakers of the Imo State House of Assembly is still unknown as various segments of the party’s leadership seem to have abandoned and forgotten them.

A government house source who spoke this reporter on condition anonymity said that the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma  seems to have forgotten them and the constituencies they represent as he hardly references them in his programs.”He rather prefers to work IMC chairmen”.

The lawmakers who were purportedly suspended by the leadership of the house for what they referred to as unparliamentarily conduct several months ago, an action that generated serious controversy in the media, among legal practitioners and their respective constituents.

The suspension has denied the lawmakers some of their statutory rights, privileges and functions except their monthly salaries thus depriving the six state constituencies  full representation in the lawmaking process and other oversight functions of the assembly.

The  lawmakers who initially contracted an Abuja  based legal practitioner to file a suit challenging their suspension in court but cowardly denied ever approaching the  courts are now in the mid stream, stranded as neither the leadership of APC nor the executive is talking about them and  their welfare.

They were earlier assured that the governor will facilitate their re-in statement and with this assurance they opted to rely on the governor. So far all efforts made by these lawmakers to reach the governor (who is always on official duties to Abuja) proved abortive. They are regretting why they did not follow up the matter as those who seemed to have sympathy for them at the onset have abandoned them.
