Human rights activist and popular columnist, citizen Samuelson Iwuoha has called for the immediate sack of Chief Declan Emelumba, the Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy for issuing a false statement to the media discovered by the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma three months after it was issued by the commissioner embarrassing the state Chief Executive, creating confusion and disaffection as well as embarrassing the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barrister C.O.C Akaolisa.
In a press statement issued on Monday August 2, citizen Iwuoha appreciated the governor’s observation and identification of Chief Emelumba’s mistake and that the Attorney General has resumed duties three months after Chief Emelumba’s terrible mistake he should be relinquished of his duties observing that the governor could not have asked Emelumba to make such horrible mistake for which he personally feels insulted.
He also noted that even if the governor had directed him to do so, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy should have used a better strategy than create the embarrassment.
The commissioner for Information ,Declan Emelumba had in a release stated that, “the Imo State government wishes to acknowledge that the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr Cyprian Okechukwu Charles Akaolisa was never among the commissioners dropped when the executive Council was dissolved a few weeks ago.
This error which occurred when I was announcing the commissioners retained by His Excellency the executive Governor of Imo State, Sen Hope Uzodinma, is highly regretted. I accept responsibility for this error.
Consequently, the government has directed that the Hon Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr C.O.C Akaolisa should immediately resume his normal duties as he was never dropped from the state cabinet”.
