The governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma who had on several occasions given hint of loss of confidence in some members of his cabinet who he described as moles, yesterday sacked most of 20 commissioners and retained the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba and the Commissioner for Works, Barr Ralph Nwosu who are his kinsmen from Oru West L.G.A.
Though the governor didn’t give any reason for relieving the affected commissioners of their positions, he had earlier alleged that some members of his executive are moles and that he would in no distant time show them the way out.
It is worthy of note that this development came up barely 24 hours after the Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper in its May 11, edition published a report about the Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi and some of his aides who were said to have been arrested and detained for alleged extortion and abuse of office.
Also affected by the governor’s partial dissolution of cabinet shortly after yesterday’s exco meeting are the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry,Simon Ebegbulem who is said be former APC chairman,Adams Oshimhole’s nominee.
It was also gathered that, “with the sack of some of the commissioners and their expected replacement, top politicians, political jobbers and those who profit by nominating political office holders are presently scheming, positioning and making moves to be appointed or pave way for their choice candidates who will expectedly render returns and gratifications”.
Among commissioners retained are;Works,Women Affairs,Technology,Finance,Health,Sports and Tourism.
