Community leaders and stakeholder in Owerri North LGA, converged at Nkwo Orji market yesterday where they commended and pledged their support and solidarity to Governor Hope Uzodinma who was there to commission solar powered borehole and ultra modern public toilet facilities built by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and the Imo State Ministry of Public Utilities.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma commended the Muhammadu Buhari led federal government for approving the projects which he said will help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
He thanked Orji residents and indigenes for their co-operation during the construction of the projects and assured them of more dividends of democracy.
The Commissioner of Public Utilities, Barr. Tony Umezuruike thanked Governor Uzodinma for facilitating the national emergency response to COVID-19 which is one of Nigeria’s economic plans to fight the spread of virus in the country and also to enhance the accessibility of safe and hygienic water supply to the rural communities.
In an emotion laden voice, the Presidential General of Orji autonomous community, Hon. Leonard Oguike expressed gratitude to the Governor for facilitating the construction of the project. He noted that this is the first time that an incumbent governor is paying an official visit to the community and applauded him for the gesture.
Hon. Oguike said the entire community is happy and have pledged to support the programmes and policies of the shared prosperity government.
“We will also not leave any stone unturned in our effort to protect and safeguard the facilities”.
The Chairman of Owerri North Forum of Presidents General, Hon. Pastor Cyracus Akujuobi congratulated the President General of Orji Hon. Oguike for his effort in overseeing the construction of the projects and prayed that Emii autonomous community partakes in such magnanimity. He also thanked the 3R shared prosperity government of Senator Hope Uzodinma for dispensing the dividends of democracy to Imo people.
