A group of Orlu youths, under the auspices of Orlu Youth Mandate Forum, OYMF has condemned in it’s entirety the failed attempt by men of the underworld to kidnap Chief Valentino Chinedu Ibenye Ugbala.
Addressing newsmen in Orlu local government area of Imo State, yesterday, the group through their President, Comrade Victor Emereonye described the development as sad and capable of scaring men of goodwill away from identifying with their people and providing succor for the less privileged among them.
They condemned the rising wave of insecurity in the area and beckoned on the government to stem the tide to forestall the senseless killing and robbery.
OYMF also called on security agents to fish out alleged sponsors of the heinous crime and bring them to book to serve as a deterrent to others. Speaking further, the group described the attempted kidnap as political, pointing accusing fingers at detractors who are intimidated by the rising profile of Ugballa.
According to them, Ugballa as an international business man, has helped many Orlu youths which was why they nominated him as patron of the organization, stressing that as a philanthropist, he has used his God given wealth to ameliorate the suffering of the people of the area.
It would be recalled that Valentino as popularly called, was a fortnight ago trailed to a Catholic Church in Okporo Orlu by suspected kidnappers who entered the Church and dragged him out. They had ordered him to enter his vehicle and follow them to an unknown destination. Luck however ran out on them when a police special squad attached to DCP Benneth Igwe and Amanato vigilante stormed the spot to rescue him.
