Despite the sudden postponement of the already scheduled Imo North senatorial bye-election, earlier fixed on Saturday October 31, 2020, the APC senatorial hopeful, Sir Chief Frank Ibezim has been unrelenting in his quest to empower and emancipate some Okigwe youths who he assures to better their lives.
One of the empowerment schemes he instituted is the skill acquisition program which has so far succeeded in empowering and engaging not less than 700 sons and daughters of Okigwe zone among the youths.
The scheme which took-off at the supervision of Amb. Don. Onuoha Michael as Project Director, has already selected six (6) best students who passed JAMB, for preference and assurance of admission at IMSU where they would possibly enjoy his scholarship scheme. The crusaders were able to capture the six LGAs of Okigwe senatorial zone. The trainees were drilled by well experienced and hands on deck resource persons carefully to give the selected best training.
According to Chief Frank Ibezim’s Project Director, Amb. Don Onuoha, the idea of embarking on this skill acquisition programme is that by 2023, every man in Okigwe zone will have skills so as to reduce the rate of poverty in the zone.
During the training, the Project Director and Sir Frank Ibezim offered the people free writing materials and hand sanitizers.
Onuoha stressed that Sir Frank Ibezim has done a huge and tremendous work in Okigwe zone, for which he described him as “an icon and empowerment master” who spent millions of naira without yet being a Senator to make sure that every youth in Okigwe zone acquires a skill.
He added that Sir Frank Ibezim has touched so many lives in Okigwe zone through his programs and urged the people to support this great man that is doing this great work for them.
The areas of the skills acquisition training scheme that took place are cosmetology, Almighty paint productions, Almighty agro business- in fishery and crop science, makeup, ICT, bead making, food processing, packaging and production branding, etc. and with free certificates of participation to enable them seek for jobs in similar organization with their new skills. It was not immediately gathered whether there was cash rewards for the participants.
