The member representing Orlu, Orsu, Oru East Federal constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, on the platform of the People Democratic Party, Hon. Jerry Alagboso, has explained why he dragged relations of late Hon. Eddie Iheanacho, who contested for the Orlu, Orsu, Oru East Federal constituency seat with him in the 2019 election, on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, to the Inspector General of Police office, Abuja by virtue of a petition they addressed to the latter.
Hon. Alagboso (Asiwaju), while briefing his constituents about his achievements and legislative assignment at the Ihioma Civil Centre, recently, stated that, he petitioned the Inspector General of Police and the Director of State Security, imploring them to conduct autopsy and find out what caused or led to the death of Hon. Eddie Iheanacho, to dispel unhealthy insinuation and speculations.
“I want them to dig deep and find out if any person or group of persons are behind his death or if he died a natural death. If anybody is found to be culpable, the person should be held and dealt with in accordance with the law and if his death is natural, like I believe it is, his soul should be left to rest in peace”.
When contacted, Anorue Iheanacho, late Okuenyeremba’s brother, who is among those invited by the Nigeria Police headquarters, Abuja,on the basis of Hon. Alagboso petition challenged Hon. Alagboso to produce valid evidence of such statement credited to them stressing that, the whole thing sounds strange to him. He however posited, that, as law abiding citizens, he and others invited will honour the police invitation because a clear conscience fears no accusation.
There are speculations in some quarters, that Hon. Alagboso’s recent petition to the Inspector General of Police, Director, Department of State Security (DSS) and explanation to his constituents is in response to a publication in Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper, where a group known as Imo Equity Group (OEA), condemned in very strong terms, “alleged clandestine plot by some people to scuttle the interment and burial ceremony of late Eddie Iheanacho”.
The group in a release signed by the President, Chinasa Duru, regretted, that, “after the sudden, heart breaking, mysterious and inexplicable demise of Chief Edwin Iheanacho, the plot by some people to stop his interment and burial ceremony for undisclosed reasons.
They called on “all Orlu sons and daughters of good conscience, to rise up and resist the onslaught of these people who are using their access to law enforcement agencies to intimidate, harass and assault members of late Iheanacho’s family, leaders of the community and virtually everyone associated with his burial”.
