The lawmaker representing Oguta State constituency in the Imo House of Assembly and House Ministry Deputy Leader, Hon. Barr. Frank Ugboma has vehemently disagreed and strongly denounced and condemned the recent purported radio announcement made by the chairman of the Interim Management of Oguta LGA on the dissolution of all the town and community unions and unilaterally appointed his choice or hand picked Presidents General in their places without the consultation with the people and particularly to him, as part of his oversight functions, or as an interested major stakeholder.
Hon. Ugboma declared that as the only elected member representing the Oguta constituency in the Imo State lawmaking house he ought to be consulted before such decision can be concluded and not for a political appointee otherwise ghost worker or office holder in the like of the Interim Management Committee chairman, Emma Mazi to arrogate to himself the overall authority to choose leader for the autonomous communities in Oguta, albeit arbitrarily without recourse to law and the fundamental rights of the people.
He said it was the inalienable right of the people to choose their leaders and those to represent them and caprice of a political appoint acting on self-delusion.
Condemning the action of the IMC chairman the lawmaker Frank Ugboma described it as a rascality and vagary as demonstrated by the purveyor of such affront on the peace loving people of Oguta.
He cited Imo State Traditional Rulers autonomous communities and allied matter law 2016 as amended, which does not empower local government chairmen to appoint or select excos of the town unions of autonomous communities interring that the union executives are usually elected in line with the affected communities constitution hence he declared the IMC chairman’s action ultra vires, unlawful, illegal, null, void and of no-effect whatsoever.
Hon. Ugboma therefore urged the people of his constituency to disregard, ignore, and discountenance with the purported pronouncement of the IMC chairman, Emma Mazi since such cannot be binding on the people.
