v Inaugurates LGA officials to drive vision massively
A Non Governmental Organization, NGO the Emetumba Foundation was on Thursday 3rd September 2020 Inaugurated in Orlu, Ideato North and Ideato South local government areas of the state.
The Foundation which was established to impact positively on the lives of the rural populace, provide opportunities and assistance in agriculture, education, health as well as develop or refurbish dysfunctional infrastructural facilities in communities in partnership with the people. It also aims to promote cultural and social values through healthy competitions in dancing, sports and religious activities.
In his message at the inauguration of the LGA and ward officials in the aforementioned LGAs, the founder, BoT chairman and President of the Foundation, Chief Paul Aballa (the Emetumba 1 of Ideato nation) disclosed that the establishment of the Foundation was motivated by inspiration and passion to embark on humanitarian projects in order to give back to the society in appreciation of what God has done in his life, especially as regards his safety throughout the turbulent period of the Niger Delta militancy and the hounding years of the Abacha regime when life was Herculean for Oil and Gas unionists that led to the death of a number of them.
He made it clear that the Foundation is not a political movement or in competition with any institution, but purely a humanitarian Organization that is disposed to the welfare of the less privileged and special class of people who have talents but lack the capacity to develop them.
He further explained the importance of having committed, dedicated and trusted members whose credibility to deliver what is entrusted to them will not be in doubt. The BoT Chairman remarked that the Foundation is poised to ensure that distance is not a barrier from receiving his assistance, hence he said the Foundation will be pushed down to every ward in the 305 electoral wards in the state so as to identify the most vulnerable at the farthest ends and reach them with palliatives.
According to him, members of the Foundation are a family with same disposition and unity of purpose aimed at improving lives of the less privileged, adding that the newly Inaugurated officials should ensure that they are good and worthy ambassadors of the Foundation by exhibiting character that is in conformity with ethical values and Christian standards.
Receiving the President and members of the apex leadership of the Foundation in their respective LGAs, the new inductees who trooped out in their numbers in resplendent attires gave the occasion a touch of carnival with songs, dances and merriment.
Speaking to our correspondent, some of the inductees expressed happiness that they were selected as officials of the Foundation that will fish out those to be assisted. They thanked Chief Emetumba for his kind gesture and promised not to disappoint him. They pointed out that they have not seen any Foundation that has made its presence in the rural communities the way Emetumba Foundation is doing, and prayed that God should protect and encourage him to realize his objective. Those who accompanied Chief Emetumba on the visit included the vice President, Lolo Aballa, the Directors Mr. Vincent Amadi, Kenneth Ogidi, Rosemoon Nzeribe and Nze Kingsley Osigwe, the LGA coordinators Mrs Juliet Anukam for Owerri North, Pastor Chukwu for Nkwerre among others.
Meanwhile, the Foundation has inaugurated the Ahiazu mbaise and Ehime -Mbano chapters and will round off the 27 LGAs soon before the launching of the NGO in a grand ceremony in Owerri in December.
