The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Public Safety, Hon Prince Ugochukwu , has called on the Muslim Community in the state to join hands with the government to ensure the protection of lives and properties of all citizens of Nigeria, irrespective of tribe or region residing in Imo State.

 Hon. Nzekwe who was present at this year’s Eid Mubarak festivities in Imo State, used the opportunity to reiterate the governments commitment to the strict observance of all covid19 health and safety protocols by religious organizations.

While interacting with the leadership of the Muslim community in Owerri, on the occasion of this years celebration of Eid Mubarak, the Public Safety Adviser and former two term member of Imo House of Assembly, pointed out that religious organizations are expected to make sure that there are no entry into the mosque without face masks and for all attendees and religious leaders to wear a face mask while worshipping.

He reminded them that worshippers who are sick should not be allowed into the place of worship but rather be taken to hospital for proper check and adequate medicare. Hon Nzekwe harped on the need for the provision of hand washing facilities and hand sanitizers at points of entries and strategic locations within the mosque premises, so that congregation can use the facilities with ease.

Some of the regulations according to Hon. Nzekwe include, making sure that attendance to religious settings should not exceed one third of the sitting capacity and for religious centres to be clearly marked such that people sit and maintain two metres distance from each other and for religious centres to be disinfected routinely, before and after service.

Similarly, Nzekwe visited the Shoprite shopping mall along Egbu road in Owerri, where he inspected the implementation of health safety protocols by management of the mall.

He spent time interacting with visiting customers and shoppers to ensure that wearing of face masks, washing of hands and social distance maintenance were strictly observed.

He thanked the management of Shoprite in Owerri, for their efforts in complying with all laid down safety regulations and protocols at the mall.
