Frontline Contender for the Senate seat of Okigwe Zone, Rt Hon (Dr) Ihim according to reliable sources has been tipped as the Consensus candidate by majority of the members of the Consensus/ Screening committee for the coveted seat.
The Committee we gathered anchored their preference for Acho Ihim based on his versed political experience and proven loyalty as system stabilizer.
Sources revealed that they variously considered his ability and capability to successfully superintend over the affairs of Imo State House of Assembly and especially, for organizing the novelty Joint Session of South-East/ South-South state Houses of Assembly that permanently nailed the controversial Hate Speech and Grazing Bill.
Ihim we were informed won the hearts of panelists who eulogised him for heading the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, CPA Africa region as president and hosting the first ever CPA conference attended by over 54 African countries that was declared open by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo in Imo State, Nigeria.
Sources said Ihim popularly called Onwa Okigwe received the nod of the group who pencilled him down as choice candidate because of his humility, sagacity, benevolence and highly unassuming nature which they posited are rare virtues that other aspirants are deficient of and lack completely.

Having a cursory look at the rotational manner of the Senate position in the zone, the Screening Committee we learnt, saw it as a painful marginalization and anomaly that Okigwe LGA as the Zonal head have not tasted the seat and saw it as an another edge that Ihim has over other aspirants.
