The Imo State House of Assembly has cautioned mischief makers who are bent on destabilizing the state by spreading rumors that the state House of Assembly mace was taken to Edo State to have a rethink.
Speaking on the issue, the House Committee Chairman on Information and judiciary Hon (Barr) Dominic Ezerioha, member representing Oru East State Constituency, disclosed that the mace in every legislative house is a symbol of authority which is handled with utmost care and responsibility.
He maintained that the story of the relocation of Imo State House of Assembly mace to Edo State is fallacy and is aimed at denting the image of the Imo state government stressing that the 9th house of assembly will very soon unravel mystery behind the unfounded story.
The Imo State House of Assembly, the House Committee Chairman on Information and Judiciary reiterated that the mace of the 9th House of Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins is intact and is kept in the sacred place it is normally kept for legislative activities.
Speaking further, Hon Ezerioha described the report of the mace of the House of Assembly being taken to Edo state as laughable and unimaginable, because every State House of Assembly has its own mace for its own legislative activities at any given time.
He therefore called on all Imolites to disregard the rumour. He posited that the Imo State house of assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins is poised to serve the state diligently while discharging their constitutional duties as representatives of the people.
