An Owerri High Court presided over by Justice I.M. Njaka has ordered Hon. Justin Brown Amadi to pay the sum of N1million to one Mrs Ogechi Osuagwu for defamation of her “character contained in the letter dated 12th May, 2017 written by the defendant”.
In a suit brought before His Lordship, Hon. Njaka with suit number HOW/490/2017, the court granted the plaintiff’s (Mrs Osuagwu) prayer for an injunction restraining the defendant (Justin Brown Amadi) “by himself, agents or the like from publishing or causing to be published in any manner the said words defamatory of the plaintiff”.
The court also ordered the defendant (Justin Brown Amadi) to pay the sum N1million as damages “for the defamation of the plaintiff’s character contained in the letter dated 12th May, 2017 written by the defendant”.
Our reporter gathered that following the inability of the defendant (Justin Brown Amadi) to pay the said sum of N1million as ordered by the court, the court swung into action to execute the judgment by confiscating his property including his vehicle (a jeep).
