The member representing Ihitte /Uboma State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Onyemaechi Njoku today, amidst tears, visited the family of Late Mrs. Uchechi Ogoke who was gruesomely murdered by yet to be identified bandits, who are suspected to be indigenes of the area.
Hon. Michael described the ugly incident as “Un-Ihitte/Uboma” and assured the family and the entire people of Ihitte/Uboma of his readiness to pursue the case until those behind the act are arrested and brought to justice.
“It is so disheartening and unfortunate that people have lost their sense of dignity and do not have regards and respect for precious human lives anymore. The enemy is around us and we must be watchful. I assure you that I shall never rest until those behind this ungodly act are brought to justice. It is painful that this act is becoming a reoccurring decimal in our locality”.
He advised the family of Ogoke in Ekwereocha community to take heart and pray fervently for God to give everyone of them the fortitude to bear the loss. He also prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, pledged to support the family at this time of their grief.
According to an eye witness account, late Mrs Uchechi Ogoke met her untimely death in the hands of the suspected assassins or hired killers on Monday night, June 29, 2020. The closest clue to the cause of her death was a phone call from her Malaysian based husband, complaining bitterly that some of his business partners were threatening his life and enjoined the wife who runs a restaurant at Isinweke to be very careful and security conscious.
Apart from Uchechi Ogoke, the killers during the escapade cut-off the leg of one of her daughters and stabbed the second daughter and maid with knives before disappearing into thin air. The victims are presently admitted in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital.
