-Proposes Movie Academy for Orlu Youths
A popular Nollywood actress and film producer, who doubles as Director of Socials of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, Jewel Infinity Ebere Ohakwe, has finally come home to roost with the sole aim of making Orlu zone the centre of entertainment industry in Imo State and environs.
The agile pretty actress, who is among the recently elected executive of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, promised to use her wealth of experience in the movie industry to change social status of the cultural organization and develop the entertainment industry of Imo State with a main take-off base in Orlu senatorial zone, a prospect for employment and economic development of the state.
Infinity Ebere Ohakwe, who wants to make Orlu the entertainment hub of Imo and change the socio-economic face of the zone said, she has already assembled all required to achieve this.
According to the young actress “there is so much we can achieve here, but I want us to start from the grassroots. We will find talents, nurture and then harness them. We know that there are lots of talented persons in the zone, but we won’t just be limited there because entertainment is global, we’ll be open to everyone, but the goal is to see that Orlu Zone has a lot happening in it when it comes to entertainment”.
Continuing, Ebere Ohakwe, having featured in many movies and also producing a couple of others, she believes fate has eventually brought her home because despite training in film education at Royal Arts Academy, Lagos her first movie, “Skolastica” was shot in her home town Amaofuo in Oru East Local Government Area, featuring the likes of Chinwetalu Agu, Destiny Otiko, Rubby Orjiakor amongst others.
Jewel Infinity Ebere Ohakwe, added that, “I’ve always wanted to be home, now fate brought me here. Entertainment especially film making is about specialization and you don’t have to be fluent in English language to be a star. If you love speaking Igbo, carve a niche for yourself on it and you’ll be known, so there’s nothing like forcing yourself where you don’t belong”.
On her plans for Orlu Zone, she mentioned talent hunts, movie academy, carnivals, pageants and others she said are still on the pipeline, assuring that one of the first things for her to do is to study the terrain and then understand where to commence.
“I am still working on familiarizing myself with this terrain. I want to get this done, so I will take my time, understand how things work here, raise a team and then off we go.
This has been a burning desire as I see it as a waste of time for one to be known down in Lagos and then being 100% unknown back home. I’ll be open to collaborations, I’ll be open to fresh ideas, but then, the goal still remains the same, Orlu to the world”, she started.
As the CEO of Ebere Ohakwe Productions and Jewel Infinity Productions, she has produced Skolastica, When Love Hurts, The Misdeed and a cinema flick “Olaedo” which was also shot in Owerri, staring veteran Pete Edochie; Nina, Rachel Okonkwo, Sophia Alakija, Yemi Blaq, Ray Emodi amongst others”.
Orlu city seems to be the first to play host to a resident Nollywood actress that has promised the youths with talent aggressive empowerment, development and employment, stating she has all the wherewithal to realize this dream in a record time, with the cooperation of all.
