- Ready for Imo North Senate Bye-Election
Few weeks after the leadership of the South East Geopolitical Regional Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led a very powerful delegation through the National Vice Chairman (South East), Emeka Eneukwu, Senator Chris Ngige, Senator Ken Nnamani and other egg-heads to Owerri, Imo state capital city just to receive Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume, back to the party, whole-heartedly and excitedly believing political prowess and exploits of the maverick politician and Agu Isiebu, the National leadership has in appreciation of Araraume’s wise decision to rejoin the party which he singlehandedly made popular by ensuring the re-election of Owelle Rochas Okorocha in 2015, granted him waiver to enable him contest the fast approaching senate bye-election for Okigwe zone.
Araraume had also pulled the strings and rugs from under the feet of Okorocha, when he mobilized the entire leadership of Imo APC to oppose Okorocha’s monopoly and insistence on imposing his son-inlaw as governorship candidate of the party in the state.
He was the cynosure of all eye at the last National convention of APC, where Okorocha attended with a mob of militant youths who unleashed mayhem on the leaders including then Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere. It was that barbaric act orchestrated by Okorocha that forced Araraume decamp to APGA, where he successfully clinched the governorship ticket against the pack of aggrieved protestants led by Ikedi Ohakim, Humphrey Anumudu, Dr Amadi of NERC, Charles Onyeagbako, and a whole lot of others.
News reaching Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper has it that the Isiala Mbano born billionaire businessman and indomitable politician, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has been granted a waiver by the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, to enable him contest the forthcoming Okigwe Senate election.
With the waiver, a resilient and urbane Araraume edges closer to returning to the Nigerian Senate for a record third term, where he is expected to become the most ranking member of the Red Chamber, and possibly, one of the most influential senators from the entire landscape of Nigeria. He will certainly displace the likes of Ike Ekweremadu, Enyinna Abaribe to assume leadership of the Southern Nigeria Senate Caucus like before.
The Okigwe Senate seat became vacant following the untimely demise of Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, who died in Abuja and was buried early this year at his Unuihi Ihitte/Uboma country home.
Addressing newsmen who were present at the APC headquarters Abuja for the event, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume maintained his resolve to give his best to ensure that his people are not left behind in the affairs of the nation, noting that since he left the senate in 2006, Okigwe zone has been relegated to the background and neglected in the scheme of things. He could not understand why past leaders hardly reckoned with Okigwe zone and promised to change the narrative.
He pledged his support and loyalty to the party and the people of Okigwe.
