Says Report from Quarters Frightening
The apex socio-cultural organization of Owerri zone, Olu Owerri yesterday raised alarm over the security of their son and brother, Mr. Ambrose Nwogwugwu who was last week arrested and detained by the DSS.
According to them,their worry stems from the alleged plot by some persons suspected to be overzealous agents of Imo State government to possibly poison Mr. Ambrose Nwogwugwu while in DSS custody.
In a press release signed by the Director Media of the organization, Rex Enwere and made available to Newsmen in Owerri,yesterday the group said it has it on good authority that the life of Ambrose Nwogwugwu is at great risk if nothing is done to prevent the execution of the plot to poison him in the coming days.
Enwere lamented the refusal of DSS personnel to allow their members to see one of their own who has been held incommunicado for one week now, instead, those plotting to poison the young man continues to have unrestricted access to the DSS office where Nwogwugwu is held.They acknowleged that the hierarchy of the DSS may be unaware of this evil plan but advised the authorities to allow the law to take its full course without further delay.
The group said that they will hold the Imo State government and the DSS responsible should anything happen to Nwogwugwu.
They argued that as an organization, they are not against the trial of Nwogwugwu but faulted his continued detention against the stipulated time of 48 hours provided by the law to arraign any suspect on civil matter.
