– Swears in 27 LGA Chairmen

The Chairman of Imo State Traditional Institution Community Policing HRM Eze Dr. E.C Okeke, also the Ezeudo II of Amaefeke of Orlu LGA, yesterday at it’s Council Headquarters Mbari Owerri swore-in the twenty seven Local Government Areas Chairmen of the Community Policing among the Ezes to pilot the affairs of traditional institution and security in their various LGAs.
This was sequel to the repeal by the Imo State House of Assembly of the law establishing the Imo State Community Government Council (CGC) established by the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha. The Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma had earlier swore-in HRM Eze Dr. E.C. Okeke as the Chairman Imo State Traditional Institution Community Policing which outfit tentatively replaces the council of Ndieze in Imo State.
In his opening remarks at the event, the Chairman of Imo State Traditional Institution Community Policing who also doubles as the new “Eze Imo” HRM Eze Dr. E. C Okeke (Ezeudo II of Amaefeke) in Orlu LGA explained that the administration of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma has deemed it necessary to restore the lost glory and dignity in the traditional institution in the state, stressing that in the past, traditional rulers were ill treated and not well cared of by Rochas Okorocha, who dragged them about. He reminded the traditional rulers that they will now take full responsibility of securing their different autonomous communities as the governor will make all necessary funds available to help them perform their essential duties as required.
Inaugurating the twenty seven LGA Chairmen of the Imo State Traditional Institution Community Policing, HRM Eze Dr. E.C. Okeke reminded the newly appointed LGA and Community Policing Chairmen to work hard as government in the State has changed and that they should always protect the interest of the present government of Senator Hope Uzodinma. He stressed that the Governor wants the traditional institution in the state to get back it’s dignity as a revered institution.
In his contribution, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Rt. CP Dan Okoro stated that security remains a top priority of the state shared prosperity government, stressing that community Policing is a synergy between the traditional rulers in the state and all security agencies. Rt Cp Okoro also disclosed that the community Policing programme of the state government will trickle down to the grassroot thereby leaving no stone unturned in the fight against crimes and criminality in the State.
He maintained that every criminal caught will be made to face the full weight of the law,most especially those indulging in rape and other domestic violence against women and the vulnerables in the state.
Speaking also, HRH Eze Chiduben Okoro who was then Owerri Zonal Chairman of Council of Imo Traditional rulers urged the newly appointed LGA Chairmen of Traditional Institution Community Policing to take their assignment serious in moving the traditional institution forward. He used the occasion to on behalf of it’s past executives, wish the new executives well and equally pledged to support HRM Eze Dr. E.C. Okeke to succeed in his office.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of the newly inaugurated twenty seven LGA Chairmen, HRH Eze Joel Udenkwo (Ude Kings Electronics Owerri) assured the state Chairman and the governor of their total support to ensure that the state moves forward.
