– Writes governor Uzodinma
Imo Good Governance Team, a group that is committed to credibility and transparency in governance has highlighted the alleged nefarious activities and fraudulent disposition of Engr Egbuka C.C, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of the Works in the state and called on Governor Hope Uzodinma to urgently investigate the source of his stupendous wealth.
The group wondered how a civil servant whose monthly salary is less than One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000) as Director could own mega filling stations including the Total Filling Station at Avu, along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, that is estimated to worth about N500 million, in addition to a five star hotel presently under construction at New Owerri area among other high rise properties and mansions in and outside the state capital.
The group in a letter signed by Comrade Ugochukwu Nwabuchie and Comrade Gideon Azuzu as President and Secretary respectively which was addressed to the Governor accused Engr Egbuka, who they alleged is presently engaged in shady deals with some oil marketers to further defraud the state having conspired with former Governor Rochas Okorocha, to divert funds meant for the construction of roads and other projects in the state and called on the Governor to probe and bring Egbuka to book to serve as a deterrent to other corrupt civil servants who are milking the state dry.
According to them, “the orchestrated anti-corruption crusade of the state present government will be a mirage if the activities of Egbuka and his cohorts are not checked, addressed and dealt with decisively. We also pledge our unalloyed support and commitment to the Reconstruction, Recovery and Rehabilitation policy of the state government, which Egbuka’s probe will give credence”.
