The youthful and vibrant Deputy speaker of Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu,yesterday was appointed chairman of House committee for monitoring and Evaluation of ongoing projects in Imo, starting from Ex-governor Rochas Okorocha’s administration.
In a motion titled: Urgent need for monitoring and evaluation of projects in Imo State to avert substandard structures and abandonment of Projects, the Imo House of Assembly during plenary observed that whereas the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has tasked contractors in charge of all the contracts in Imo to ensure quality and speedy delivery of projects hence, need to ensure strict adherence to the condition of the contracts.
The house which was presided over by the speaker, Rt. Hon Chiji Collins expressed worry over the quality of projects done in Imo state in the past and vowed to ensure that henceforth, every project done in Imo must be of standard to avoid collapse of such projects as currently witnessed in the state.
Iwuanyanwu, who alongside other members are expected to monitor all the projects executed from 2011 to date.
Speaking with our correspondent at the Imo State house of Assembly complex, Owerri, the Nwangele born Legislator thanked the speaker for the opportunity to serve in that capacity and assured that he will not leave any stone unturned in purging the state of substandard projects which he said is the bane of underdevelopment in the State.
Speaking further, he commended the executive governor of Imo State,Senator Hope Uzodinma over his effort in making sure that Imo roads are passable ahead of the rainy season, assuring that his committee will help to facilitate the speedy completion of projects in Imo as there shall be no sacred cow in the cause of discharging their assignment which the Deputy speaker described as service to Imo electorate.
