–      Advises Opposition leaders to respect office of governor

Former Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Amaechi Nwoha, has called on Hon Uche Onyeagucha, and his likes to respect the office of the Governor of Imo State.

The former Speaker was reacting to statement credited to Uche Onyeagucha and others in which they addressed the Governor of Imo State with insulting and uncomplimentary words hence he warned that it is high time they desisted from such derogatory and vulgar languages. He described their resort to garbage behaviours as an insult to the high office of the Governor and that such attitude is an insult to all Imo citizens which should no longer be tolerated.

The former speaker while addressing newsmen in Owerri over the weekend also noted that opposition leaders have thrown caution to the winds and now insult the office of the Governor at will not because the Governor has not performed but because they are bad losers.

He said, “am particularly disappointed that a lawyer, former National Assembly member and former Secretary of our State Government, Uche Onyeagucha (who should know better), would publicly address the Governor of his state in such insulting languages. We should be able to manage our political differences with caution and maturity, knowing that no one remains in power or out of it in perpetuity. We respected His Excellency, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and congratulated him while he was the governor of our dear state, despite that we belong to another party, while pursuing the legal option to recover our electoral mandate through the courts as civilized people.

“I expect the opposition party members to manage their electoral loss with maturity and the belief that power comes from God. While I appeal to His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma not to descend on anyone with the full weight of state power, I will like to warn that no one should take the office of the governor of Imo state for a ride”.

He then congratulated the governor on his 100 days in office and commended him and his medical team on the efforts being made so far in protecting the state against the spread of the Coronavirus.

He further called on the people of Imo state to remain vigilant, prayerful and endure the hardship brought about by the various measures put in place to contain the spread of this dreaded virus which obviously poses an existential treat to human race.
